Young Artist Studio

This new initiative at the CCOC is a pre-professional training program for youths (ages 16 and up) interested in performing opera. Through weekly musical and dramatic coachings, participants will develop various aspects of their stagecraft in a safe and inclusive environment as they collaborate to mount a full operatic production in the spring. Specialized workshops catered by working operatic professionals and excursions to various opera performances around the city will also be offered, connecting participants to the Toronto musical community at large.

Auditions will be open to all youths demonstrating interest in the program, regardless of previous dramatic and musical training. That being said, participants need to demonstrate some level of skill or potential in both of these areas in order to be properly considered. A willingness to commit to the program, and a desire to strive for excellence are also both required so that the participants will be better able to successfully meet the high standards of this program.
